Question:

I have chronic kidney disease, stage 3 B. I'm hoping you can share some hints on how I can deal with this through nutrition. thanks!?

— Sam Carpenter

Answer:

Sam, with kidney disease, you have to be super careful as I know you are because the kidneys process, um, minerals and I can't give you any specific advice. This is definitely when you need a registered dietician. Um, because it is in the later stage, you've probably been told you can't eat many grains. Um, I would, when you're meeting with your dietician, ask about maybe can you try some lower phosphorus, um, vegetables or whatever it is they're watching for you. I wish there was a easy answer, but that's, that's a level above culinary medicine. That's when you really need to work with a clinician there. So, I'm sorry I don't have any great answers for you.
